Suit Your Health Campaign

HealthTank is dedicated to supporting the local Prince William County and DC community. Therefore, the Company has launched a Suit Your Health Campaign to promote good health and illness prevention amongst key organizations in the area, including the Primary Care Coalition and African Health Fair, Prince William County Public Schools, DC Chapter of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, and African Women's Cancer Awareness Association (AWCAA). HealthTank is donating to one of these organizations $5 for every deck purchased at Party City in Woodbridge, VA through July 15, 2009.

Supporting National Preparedness Month


During September 2008, National Preparedness Month, HealthTank joined the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to help people better prepare for emergencies by offering free Preparedness Decks to all who signed up.

National Preparedness Month is a nationwide effort held each September to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools. At HealthTank, we value the government's mission to create a culture of preparedness by planning for emergencies, staying informed, and getting involved. Our Preparedness Deck provides a fun way to learn how to prepare for both man-made and natural disasters that could affect your health.

Combating Sarcoidosis Through Education

During July 2008, HealthTank joined Fitness Heights International to help educate people about the symptoms, impacts, and treatment options for sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that impacts many Americans, at the 1st Annual Caribbean Sounds Run/Walk in Washington, DC. As a proud sponsor and guest speaker for the event, HealthTank's President, Dr. Okezie, taught participants key tips on how to recognize warning signs for the disease and take action to mitigate its risks.

Raising Awareness of Heart Disease in Women

 

HealthTank supports First Lady Mrs. Bush and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's Heart Truth campaign to elevate awareness of heart disease among women. Heart disease is the single largest cause of death among women as it is with men, yet it is often mistaken to be primarily a man’s disease. In fact, six out of ten stroke deaths happen in women, and more women die of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases than from all causes of cancer combined.

On February 11, 2008, the President and Mrs. Bush hosted a Heart Truth reception at the White House to celebrate the fifth year of Mrs. Bush’s service as ambassador to raise heart disease awareness among women. In addition, the Heart Truth campaign is supported by the Red Dress project, through which the fashion industry encourages women to lead heart-healthy lifestyles and wear a red dress pin to show their support of good heart health.

The Heart Truth campaign is making women more aware of the dangers and risks of heart disease. The campaign offers a wide variety of resources to help individuals and local communities raise awareness, including educational materials for women to learn about heart disease and how to reduce their risks, national public service advertising, and community and corporate programs to expand the reach of The Heart Truth campaign’s message.
